Emma Rea is a Melbourne-based designer and artist

For over 20 years, Emma Rea has worked in arts, fashion and textiles across the globe. She strives to create future heirlooms, designed for individuals who don’t follow the trends but instead create their own.

Each piece is created and finished by hand in Emma’s Melbourne studio.

A proud Gamilaroi woman now based in Naarm (Melbourne), she lives and works on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung and Bunurong country.

Inspiration

Inspired by 16th-19th century Memento Mori artefacts, Emma Rea Fine Jewellery combines skulls, serpents, holy motifs and florals with gothic and punk subcultures to create accessories that are not afraid to express individuality.

Materials & Sustainability

Using recycled silver alleviates our environmental footprint on the planet. 60% of the silver used to create Emma Rea pieces is recycled OR upcycled, sourced from local purveyors. Findings and components not made in-house are sourced from a local manufacturer fully compliant with the LBMA Responsible Gold Guidance and the Organisation of Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas. All precious metal issued by this manufacturer is sourced in a way that does not cause, support or benefit unlawful conflict, or contribute to serious human rights abuses or breaches of international law.

In addition to this, Emma uses recycled, reusable and biodegradable packaging whenever possible to ship your orders.

Emma believes that sourcing recycled materials locally contributes to the circular economy, in order to tackle global challenges including climate change, biodiversity loss, waste, and pollution while also supporting others prioritising the same change.
